MedicAlert® - How Does The Service Work?

MedicAlert® Emergency Response Service works using a simple 5 step process:

Step 1 - In an emergency situation the emergency responder instantly identifies the MA Emblem or Member ID card.

Step 2 - The Emergency Responder reads the emblem or card, sees the member’s medical info and the Emergency Response phone number.

Step 3 - The Emergency Responder calls the MedicAlert 24 hour Emergency Response Center for the member’s additional medical information.

Step 4 - The MedicAlert 24 hour Emergency Response Center transmits the member’s medical file to the hospital Emergency Room and then notifies the member’s family.

Step 5 - The attending physician or nurse notes the member’s primary medical condition, medications, allergies and implanted devices often required before treatment can proceed.
